Lawn Care is best left to the Fort Myers lawn professionals at Ants & Bugs Pest Contol. Our technicians use an Integrated Pest Management approach to control weeds, outdoor pests and diseases that could be preventing your lawn from looking it’s best. We individually diagnose and then treat your lawn’s specific needs. Our lawn and pest control programs are designed after recommendations from the University of Florida. We control Ft Myers weeds, insects and disease while providing nutrients to your lawn throughout the year.
Insect Control
Our lawn spraying program consists of preventative treatments six times per year. We treat your Fort Myers lawn and target the following insect threats: chinch bugs, grubs, sod web worms, army worms, ants and mole crickets.
Weed Control
A healthy lawn deters weeds. When the grass of your Fort Myers lawn is lush and dense weeds do not thrive. Do not scalp your lawn when mowing. The longer blades help prevent weeds from germinating and helps shade out the weed seeds. Only remove the top 1/3 blade of grass and make sure the mower blades are sharp. Our lawn spraying program is the best defense against weeds, but a few weeds are inevitalbe in most Fort Myers lawns. We selectively use herbicides when invasive grasses or weeds appear in the turf.
Fertilizer
St. Augustine needs fertilization for proper health. Ants and Bugs Pest control is a Lee County certified company in Best Management Practices and we adhere to the fertilizing regulations of Lee County, Florida. Our Fort Myers Lawn spraying program includes both dry and liquid fertilizers.
Disease Control
Brown patch is caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia Solani. Brown patch is most severe when temperatures moderate at night in the upper 50 and 60 degree range with mid day temps in the 70s. Once summer temperatures get into the 80 and 90 degree range, brown patch activity in Fort Myers ceases until fall. Brown patch activity is enhanced by high nitrogen fertilization, moisture on the leaf surfacess and excessive thatch. Root rot is another problem for Fort Myers St. Augustine lawns. Take all Root Rot (TARR) of St Augustine grass has also emerged as a major problem in Florida landscapes. This disease is caused by Gauemannomyces gramin.
